You must've encountered lots in your vicinity having a guitar or a keyboard with them in their rooms, while you were in your college hostel. But you didn't listen them playing their instruments. Truly speaking, we develop a real fantasy towards an instrument when you see a person playing the same in front of you. Your mind suddenly shouts, 'OMG ! I am gonna buy this instrument. I am gonna learn this now. Creates a fantastic impression'. 95 % of the cases comes out with Resultant below:

(1) you buy the instrument.

(2) you start learning Enthusiastically.

(3) You start loosing your persistance at a later stage.

(4) Your instrument starts engulfing the dust at a corner of your room.

The problem was definitely the decreasing level of your enthusiasm, when you were unable to pluck that after some repeated trials. As far as I think, while you learn an instrument (either on your own, or from anyone), you've to remove a crap from your subconscious mind which always does a Salsa there, i.e. "Playing an instrument would be creating a fantastic impression on people in front of mine". When you learn, your focus should be only the technicalities, the rectifications, and the competitiveness with you. Next time, whenever you take the responsibility to handle an instrument, ensure that you're doing it firstly for you, and then for the public.
